Great percentage of people considers old, unwanted objects to be simply a waste with trash-containers and trash-yards being only places where these items belong. However, there is different perspective of perceiving those things than redundant. What stands for an old, unwanted “garbage”, for me has own spirit, the history written by memories connected to those items. I dare to say, they possess the soul and the very ability to remember what took place during their existence. They are often soak with emotions one may sense in textiles, structure of wood and layers of paint. Hence, during my research in Heijplaat, I have decide to collect unwanted chairs left there, and devote to the aim of giving them new life, and thereby new meaning, their deserve.

Chairs I have collected at the Heijplaats shall receive a new existence. All of them will be placed in one space, where they will create a platform for social meeting. According to my conclusions regarding symbolism of certain shapes, I have chose it to be a circle which would allow people to sit closely, look at each other and talk.
Each of the chair will receive a symbolic meaning, for instance a symbol painted in one of the colors the meaning of which I have discussed above. My aim is to recreate the image of Heijplaat by means of including its random elements in the design of the project.
